Reintroducing Native Wildlife
Chameleons, birds, bees, frogs – and even lemurs?

176 animal species worthy of protection within reach
According to Madagascar National Parks, 176 animal species live in the Ambohitantely Special Reserve, 40 kilometres away.

Anilany helenae
Anilany helenae is a critically endangered frog species that is endemic to the Ankazobe district and does not exist anywhere else.
Apis mellifera unicolor
Apis mellifera unicolor is a subspecies of honey bee endemic to Madagascar. We will introduce Madagascar honey bees into the forests for our honey production in due course.

Targeted reintroduction – a long-term goal
In addition to the natural return of wild animals, our aim is to reintroduce certain species into our forests with human support. The implementation of this strategy is expected to be phased in from 2030, when the first restored forest will provide a sufficient food base for native wildlife. Apart from the planned reintroduction of Madagascar honey bees, it has not yet been decided how other species will be reintroduced.
