About us
Kafeala is a project of CHANGING. We are a non-profit, non-partisan and non-denominational nature conservation and development organisation based in Switzerland and Madagascar.

A Fihaonana where wild forests thrive and people lead self-determined lives above the international poverty line.
That is our vision.

Charitable purpose
CHANGING contributes to the restoration of resilient forest ecosystems, the propagation of threatened plant and animal species, poverty alleviation and conservation awareness in Ankazobe District, mainly in the village community of Fihaonana. As the sole executing organisation, we are implementing two projects, Kafeala and Fianarana.
The project Kafeala involves the planting of over 120 indigenous tree and shrub species on land legally and cadastrally owned by our organisation. From the seventh year, the protection of the resulting forest ecosystems is financially self-sustaining through their own not-for-profit production of coffee and forest honey.
The project Fianarana enables socially disadvantaged, motivated teenagers and young adults to study at university and accompanies them on their way to a self-determined future.

Reports and documents
Seat Madagascar
We are located where our projects are and have our organisational headquarters in Madagascar, directly in the rural community of Fihaonana. The headquarters covers an area of 70'000 square metres and includes the tree nursery, the Fiadanana forest, the area for compost production and the school infrastructure of the separate education project Fianarana. It also contains the house of our Co-founders Nomena RAMAROZATOVO and Fabio Müller, which they financed from their own savings and is legally owned by CHANGING.

Seat Switzerland
For reasons of efficiency, we do not rent external office space. In Switzerland, we are therefore registered at the legal domicile of our Co-founder Fabio Müller.
